A Prayer

My God
Good, Majestic, Faithful, and True
I see You and Your beauty,
And the weight of all Your Glory
Shatters my prideful, sinful heart.
I should not be anywhere near Your Presence
With all this wickedness I carry,
Yet You have chosen to dwell within me.
My God, how could this be?
So let thankfulness flow from my blood and my bones
And if I am torn to pieces,
Then on every piece let there be written, JESUS
Jesus, Savior, Master, Shepherd
My love, my life
How long until I am with You,
Alive in heaven’s skies?
But I am here on this earth
A pilgrim passing through a place not my home
These things I see, hear, touch, taste
Will one day fall away
So set my eyes on things eternal and unseen
So that Christ is everything.

Sight to the blind

Hearing to the deaf

Hearts brought to life

That were once dead.

Christ exalted

More of You, less of me

To see Your love displayed

And captive souls set free.

Your presence manifested

The place shaken

Your Wind carrying fire

The church awakened.

Your people reminded

What they were made for

To know their Maker

And proclaim the name of the Lord.

Words and music

Anointed with Your power

Angels joining, darkness fought

In this very hour.

Weary, broken souls

Rest in Your loveliness

Wayward children

Taste Your goodness.

Hearts of stone

Shattered at last

No more in bondage

To the chains of their past.

Eyes now opened

To spiritual things

Freedom from

Addictions, disease.

Praises that rise

Like a fragrance to You

Idols crashing down

In Christ, lives made new.

A picture of heaven

To be seen today

Tongues, tribes and nations

Giving Jesus all praise.

I Am A Mountain

I am a mountain
Made of earth and dust and rock
The soul i have is filled with cracks
They run down deep, deeper than anyone can see.
I am always looking up
Up into the sky blue
I see the birds and am jealous
For i want to be free like them.

But I am a mountain
I was made what i am
Because it glorifies my Maker
He is the Master Craftsman
He chisles away at me, shaping me
My features are unique to me from all the others.

I treasure lonely moments
Because it lets me ponder the meaning of all this
If i couldn’t find meaning or see beauty
I am certain i would shrivel up and waste away
But life was breathed into me
By the One who named the stars and watches the sparrows.
I am alive
I breathe in wind, i dance.

But the prince of the earth, the evil one
Seeks to destroy beauty, purity, and all things good
He causes dissention, confusion, fear, and hurt
He wants to break me apart, piece by piece, bone by bone
Until i am just fragments lying in dust.

But i am a mountain
I cannot be shaken
My God surrounds me and shields me with His peace.

“Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion, which cannot be shaken but endures forever. As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the LORD surrounds his people both now and forevermore.” –Psalm 125: 1&2

Snatches of a Psalm

“How lovely is your dwelling place, O LORD Almighty!  My soul yearns, even faints for the courts of the LORD; my heart and my flesh cry out for the living God.”

“Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young—a place near your altar…”

“Blessed are those whose strength is in you, who have set their hearts on pilgrimage.”

“Hear my prayer…look with favor on your anointed one.”

“Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere…”

“O LORD Almighty, blessed is the man who trusts in you.”

–Psalm 84

What an amazing provision God’s word is to my soul!  I have found that though many times trusting the Lord hurts, what steadies my heart is the truth of His word.  How good He is!  Tonight I am reminded of the sweetness of His presence.  He is with me, I know that full well.  And with Him as my strength I can endure all things, looking towards my true Home–  Heaven, where I will one day at last see Jesus.

Journal Poetry

You put a fire
Deep within my bones to go
And take Your Name to those
Who have never known

The enemy has made me weak
I’m wavering
But I was made for this
So I’ll keep fighting

O God help me not be moved

Running towards my God
I will not forsake the call
He is my strength and song
So rejoice, O my soul

There’s nowhere I can go
To run away from You
I am afraid but I won’t hide
I’ll run to You

I must take this love I’ve found
To the suffering
The fear of death can’t keep me here
When the lost are perishing

O God help me not be moved
Give me strength in You

Running towards my God
I will not forsake the call
He is my strength and song
So rejoice, O my soul

We have this promise
The dark will be overcome
And our God will be with us
Till the day He takes us Home

So do not fear
Do not fear
Rejoice O my soul
And follow the call

10 I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11 and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.  12 Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. 13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.–Phil 3:10-14

I dearly long to be with my Lord.

An original song that is an outpouring of my heart–the chorus being simple and saying “All of creation sings Your praise, soon every nation will exalt Your Name. Holy, Holy God.”
I am so eager for the day when every unreached people group has been reached for the gospel, and people from every tribe, tongue, and nation, are praising Jesus, for He is worthy of ALL praise.

Herein Is Love

“Herein is love, when I cannot rise to Him He draws near on wings of grace, to raise me to Himself.”  —  The Valley of Vision

Whenever I am feeling dry and far from the Lord, crying out to Him, wanting to be close but not knowing how, I read that old Puritan prayer.  And I realize that instead of thinking, what can I do to get close to God again? I must not make it about me, but about Him.  And so I simply remember. HIS love, HIS grace.

It was He who drew me to Himself in the first place, it must be Him who draws me near once again.  The moment I try to crawl my way back to good standing with God is the moment that I become me-centered instead of God-centered, because it becomes about what I can do.  No!  Just know Him.

Know Him.

Remember the gospel.  Remember what He has done.  It.  Is.  Finished.

Jesus finished it at the cross.  He paid for sin once and for all.

I must cling to the gospel.  Religion merely shows me that I need to love God.  The gospel alone gives me the power to do it.

I love these lines from the song, ‘All I Have is Christ,” by Sovereign Grace Music:

“I had no hope that You would own

A rebel to Your will

And if You had not loved me first

I would refuse You still.”

And so I press on, remembering that it was God who loved me first, and God who overcame my rebellious will with His grace, and God who holds me and keeps me by His grace.

Oh, how I need Him.  The more I am sanctified, the more I realize how sinful I am and am in need of JESUS.

Jesus, I plead to You for help.  Only You can revive this dry and desert soul.

I love You because You first loved me.

“Herein is love; when I cannot rise to Him He draws near on wings of grace to raise me to Himself.”

Thank You Lord for Your grace.

Real gold fears no fire

So Lord, give to me the suffering

That purifies me

This is my trembling desire.

Trembling because I am afraid

Trembling because I don’t want the pain

But if pain is what you will use

To draw me close to You

Then I am willing.

Real gold fears no fire

So Lord, whatever it takes

Break me down

So that Your Name is lifted higher

Be exalted through my life.

You must become greater and I, less

Because only You satisfy in the brokenness

And no matter what, I have reason to rejoice and sing,

For if I have Christ, then I have everything

Real gold fears no fire

So whatever it may cost

Lord, refine me.

(Inspired from 1 Peter 1:6-7 and the persecuted believers around the world.)

A desert sun is burning strong

i’m desperate to right all i’ve done wrong

But when i’m dry and empty inside

It is You alone who restores my life

So sail me out to sea

i want to be stranded in Your mystery

i’ve seen far too much pain

To want anything but to say Your Name

So in this moment i cry out

Jesus, Jesus, hold me now

You are the only thing

That is beautiful in me

Like Hosea’s wife i’ve run away

But You draw me in and compel me to stay

So sail me out to sea

To where i’m captured by Your beauty

i want no other pleasure

But for You to be my heart’s treasure

So in this moment i cry out

Jesus, Jesus, hold me now
